Zaporizhzhia: On the Frontier

Zaporizhzhia is a large industrial city in southeastern Ukraine. It is a key center of Ukrainian history and the homeland of the famous Zaporozhzhian Cossacks -- the warrior state of Ukraine's early modern history.
Today, over 70% of Zaporizhzhia Oblast is occupied by Russian troops. Zaporizhzhia is also a central hub of Ukraine's southern counteroffensive. It is now located a few dozen kilometers from the frontline.
- UkraineWorld traveled to the city with PEN Ukraine and Ukraine Crisis Media Centre in June 2023 to bring aid to local libraries, deliver a vehicle for soldiers, and speak with local residents. This is our film about the trip.
