Zaporizhzhia is a large industrial city in southeastern Ukraine. It is a key center of Ukrainian history and the homeland of the famous Zaporozhzhian Cossacks -- the warrior state of Ukraine's early modern history.
Today, over 70% of Zaporizhzhia Oblast is occupied by Russian troops. Zaporizhzhia is also a central hub of Ukraine's southern counteroffensive. It is now located a few dozen kilometers from the frontline.
The documentary is made with the support of the Institute for Human Sciences (IWM) in Vienna, and its Documenting Ukraine program.
