Ukrainians Create Eco-Alternative To Plastic Toothbrushes

February 18, 2021

The Ukrainian startup Effa makes disposable toothbrushes from paper and recyclable materials. Illya Kichuk noticed that thousands of plastic toothbrushes are thrown away each day. So he and his future wife Daria decided to create an eco-friendly alternative.

Effa’s toothbrushes can replace the plastic ones used in hotels and cruise ships. The toothbrush can be used for 30 days. The body of the toothbrush is made of fibers of the quickly-renewable sugarcane. And the head has recycable silicone bristles.

Effa’s toothbrushes can be found in world famous hotels such as Alila and Radisson. Effa also has a preliminary deal with Netflix’s office in California. Apart from toothbrushes, the team is developing a disposable hygiene kit with soaps, face masks, and toothpaste. They plan to sell it in the Ukrainian stores soon.
